Call to Order:                        The meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm at the Leighton home.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the details regarding the repair of the foundation on the property being transferred from the Leighton Trust to the Stetson Historical Society.

The estimates for the foundation repair are around $8500 without materials.  President Leighton recommended that Clyde Merrill do the work.  Charles has seen his work and Clyde enjoys working on old houses.  The membership agreed to this.

The Corinna Historical Society (CHS) will donate to the SHS 7 8”x8” 16’ timbers.  Lloyd Bolsteridge noted that Condon’s electric did the electrical work for the CHS at no charge.

Julie met with three banks regarding a loan (Peoples, Bank of America and Merrill).  Loans are available, but will probably require some individuals to secure the loan.  The monthly payments varied from $121 to $167 per month depending upon the amount of the loan and the length of payback.

Julie will go back to the banks and talk to them again now that we have a better idea of what we want to do.

Insurance will cost approximately $545 per year.  No liability is available for such a building.

A discussion was held to decide :

1.                  Does the SHS want to take out a loan?

2.                    What should the amount & terms be?

3.                    How will the Society pay the loan?

The Society’s current checking balance is just over $6000, and $1500 is netted from the calendar sales each year.

We are selling mugs and have 50 dues paying members.

Fund raising was discussed.  Ideas for fund raising included: hunter’s breakfasts, dinners, yard sales, penny jars at the schools and around town, bingo and 50-50 raffles.

It was noted that we need to begin keeping a log of money and volunteer time donated to our projects to use when applying for grants, etc.  President Leighton has started the log.

The next SHS meeting will be on June 2, 2005.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:43 pm.
