Call to Order:                        The meeting was called to order at 6:33 pm.

The Secretary’s Report for March 3 was read and accepted as written.

The Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.  The current checking account balance is $3051.83.  $3232 was received from the Town of Stetson for the gateway signs.  $40 in dues, a $10 donation and $7 for calendars was accepted at the meeting.

Old Business:

1.      Grant money:  Reimbursement for the gateway signs was received from the Town.

2.      Calendars:   There are 5 left.

3.      Library Newsletter: Lester submitted an article for the upcoming publication.

4.       Website Photos:  In progress

5.      Fund Raisers/Mugs:  The mugs are still with the Leighton’s

6.      Patton family genealogy request: The Leighton’s gave the Patton family genealogy book to Lester.

New Business:

1.      Maine Archives Grant:  Lester attended a course on grant writing.  He found out about grants the SHS could use to renovate or build a building for housing the Society’s materials.

2.       Leighton property:  The Leighton’s are looking into setting up a trust.  Included would be a donation of the vacant building on Stetson Road next to the Post Office to the SHS, if the Society were interested.  The SHS would own the building.  No taxes would have to be paid, as the Society is tax exempt.  The land would be retained in the trust, and leased to the Society.  At the end of the lease period the land would revert back to the Trust.  A decision would be made at that time regarding the use of the land.  It was decided that members who are interested, would meet at the Leighton property on Sunday April 10th at 1pm to examine the property under discussion.

3.      Display Cases:  President Leighton asked that everyone be on the lookout for display cases that we could use for the Society’s collections.

The next SHS meeting will be on May 5, 2005.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:21 pm.
